We're an independent asset finance brokerage based in Bournemouth. There are three of us, and you deal with us directly rather than being passed down a chain. Between us we've spent decades arranging finance for businesses across Dorset and the south coast.

We're based in Bournemouth and work across Dorset and the south coast, with clients in Hampshire and further afield. Most of what we arrange happens by phone and email, because asset finance rarely needs anyone in the room, though we're happy to meet where it helps.

It might be a van, a new machine, equipment for a contract you've just won, or restructuring facilities you already have. The approach is the same each time. We start with what the business is trying to do, then work out how to fund it.

Between us we've worked across asset finance, commercial lending and invoice finance, and we've built relationships with a wide panel of funders who each look at a deal differently. That experience is what tells us who is worth approaching for yours, and what they'll want to see.

You get the same three people every time you call. We answer the phone, we call back the same day, and if something isn't going to work we'll tell you early rather than after three weeks of silence.

Richard Perry

Richard founded Coastal Asset Finance after more than 30 years in the industry, most of it spent watching business funding become steadily more automated and steadily less personal. He started the firm to work the other way round.

He asks about the business before he asks about the asset. Thirty years of deals means he's usually seen a version of your situation before, and that's what shapes which funders are worth approaching.

Richard brings calm judgement to every deal, and he knows when the sensible move is to act now and when it pays to wait. If waiting is the better answer, he'll say so.

Darren Venton

Darren has spent more than 25 years helping businesses and organisations find the finance they need to move forward, across construction, transport, engineering and education.

He starts with what you actually need rather than a finance product. Tell him what you're trying to do and he'll ask the right questions, understand the wider picture and work out which options make sense.

Much of his work comes from repeat clients and recommendations. Someone who financed one van may come back three years later for the next three, and accountants introduce businesses that need an experienced eye.

He answers the phone, calls people back and makes sure you know what's happening next. If something isn't going to work, he'll tell you as soon as he knows.

Lucy Perry

Lucy runs the part of the process that happens after the funding is agreed and before the asset arrives, which is the part most people underestimate.

She works backwards from the date you need the asset. Documents, checks, invoices and timings, chased rather than waited for, because most delays in asset finance are administrative rather than financial.

She'll also tell you where things are without being asked, so you always know what's happening next. Clients tend to notice the absence of chasing more than anything else.
